A 200-year-old white and blue farmhouse, behind it lie the vineyards and in the distance Lake Constance glitters – that is how idyllic Teresa Deufel’s Lindau organic winery is.

In 1975, Teresa Deufel's uncle and father founded a winery together. Becoming a winemaker was not always Teresa Deufel's dream. It was only after her father died that she began to take a closer look at the family business.
She wants to make it – to prove to her critics that she can run the business successfully on her own.
She goes her own way and focuses on quality. The winemaker does not use weed killers and sows flowers instead.
These attract bees and other beneficial insects:
"This makes our vineyards look a little wilder – they are more natural," she says.
As a refiner of tradition, she works with wooden barrels and lets the wine ferment spontaneously - without interfering with the natural process with additives. Teresa Deufel thins out the vines to prevent rot. She removes leaves so that light and air can reach the berries, and picks the grapes by hand. Organic winegrowing means a lot of work. Guests at the wine tasting notice this when Teresa Deufel shows them her work in the vineyard. Particularly fruity and aromatic wines are produced on Lake Constance: The "Mucaris" shows fine rose blossoms and yet a strong structure on the palate. The "Johanniter" is a soloist with animating acidity
and a light apricot note.
Here is a selection of their best wines, available to order through Mavi.
Teresa lives with her family in Bad Schachen.
