Salzkammergut

Nestled in the heart of Austria, where the northern edge of the Alps unfolds into a symphony of rugged peaks, gentle hills, and crystal-clear lakes, lies the enchanting Salzkammergut. Here, a Munich couple has created a true gem with their apartment building.

On the northern edge of the Alps, in the middle of Austria, lies the Salzkammergut.

With rolling hills and steep cliffs, expansive meadows and colorful forests, it has become the new favorite destination in the middle of Europe, especially in the increasingly hot summers.

Particularly because of its crystal-clear lakes: whether Fuschlsee, Mondsee, Wolfgangsee, Altaussee, or Gosausee—they are the stars of the Alpine landscape.

Lake Gosausee gazes over the Dachstein mountains like a green eye.

The small village of Gosau lies in its foothills. Here on Stötzlgasse,

Anke Paalzow and Alex Müller have opened Dachstein 7, with nine boutique apartments.

Among insiders, the vacation home is known as the `base camp of the Salzkammergut`.

The attention to detail is immediately noticeable. Together with designer Janka Guhl, the couple created their vacation home. The leaves on the wallpaper are reflected in the cushions, and the robe matches the comforter. Modern comfort with Alpine charm. A scent of mountain herbs and flowers fills the rooms.
`I want my guests to feel at home straight away and not miss anything,` says Anke.
You can sense this as soon as you enter the house: there is a fruit basket in the entrance, and if you don’t want to go shopping, you can help yourself to soups, cheese, and wine from the fridge. The vacation apartments are designed for people planning an active vacation. The Salzkammergut is perfect for hiking, skiing, and cycling enthusiasts. The Dachstein West ski area is only 10 minutes away. The entrance to the cross-country ski trail is right behind the house. Everyone can get some exercise here.

Those who prefer to experience culture can follow in the footsteps of Empress Sissi in Bad Ischl, for example. The main attraction is the Kaiservilla, her former summer residence.

Or you can travel to nearby Salzburg— the Mozart city of art, music, and history .

Altaussee is located very close to Gosau. Long walks around the lake are well worth it.

Unspoiled nature and meditative tranquillity guarantee maximum relaxation.
There are several restaurants around the lake—one of them is the Jagdhaus Seewiese,

where Daniel Craig was on a mission as James Bond for Spectre.
Another beautiful location is the Seewiese. Here, the best setting meets regional, modern cuisine.

One of Anke and Alex’s favorite restaurants.

Back at Dachstein 7, you can relax at the end of the day in the spa with a crackling open fire.
After an active day and a sauna session, what could be nicer than slipping away

into the land of dreams?
