This enchanting corner of the Algarve unveils a captivating aspect of Portugal’s coastal beauty. The perfect starting point for a road trip through the Algarve’s hidden gems, where visitors get swept up by a laid-back vibe and an easygoing charm you only find in places that still feel a bit off the radar. In the village of Cabanas, the sea gently laps against the boats moored in the Ria Formosa lagoon, and the air is thick with the scent of salt and seaweed. You can stroll along the waterfront, grab a coffee at one of those little cafés, and watch old-school fishing boats. A haven for nature enthusiasts especially for birdwatchers. The beach in Cabanas is a vision of untouched beauty. Here time slows down. The horizon seems infinite, basically heaven.

Then there's Tavira with its mix of Moorish architecture, winding streets, and a vibe that’s perfect for the

“I’m just here to explore” aesthetic.

There are places everywhere where a drink is always served with a magnificent view.

Cacela Velha is a real gem. Perched up on a hill, this ancient town offers panoramic views of the ocean and rolling dunes below. Its narrow, winding streets and the impressive fortress evoke a sense of history and grandeur. The surrounding beaches below, with their dramatic cliffs and golden sand with hardly anyone around are the definition of picture perfect especially during sunset.

Just before the Spanish border lies the Verde Lago Resort. As Portugal’s first resort to meet Green Globe certification from construction to completion, Verdelago was built with a focus on sustainability and harmony with nature. Spanning 200 hectares, it serves as a sanctuary for over 100 animal species. A dedicated solar power system provides energy to both the resort and the local community, while an innovative water management system recycles rainwater. With its sleek, modern architecture, elegant villas and serene pools, it’s the perfect retreat for those looking to escape the daily grind.
